ABOUT KOLKATA

Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), the capital city of the state of West Bengal, is more than 300 years old. It was the former capital of British India. Located on the eastern bank of river Hooghly, the city has the nation's largest metropolitan area. The climate of Kolkata during January is pleasant with temperature of 15O to 25OC. The weather usually remains dry.

The city of Kolkata is connected by international airlines. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is about 25 Km. from the heart of the city. The main railway stations are Howrah and Sealdah. The city has a number of tourist spots of historical importance. A number of tour operators are available in the city for local sight seeing and organizing tours.
